Welcome to a new musical adventure.
Greetings! My name is Kai!
Located in the Chicago northwest suburbs, I am a classically-trained pianist that gravitates towards rock, funk, and jazz music. I am also an avid saxophonist and a self-taught vocalist.
It's difficult to describe in words my musical diction and vocabulary; I will let my music speak for itself. I can tell you I have grown up listening to all sorts of music, ranging from all the 70s and 80s tunes my parents enjoyed all the way to post-modern academiclassical music.
My musical knowledge is enhanced by the teaching of all those who came before me. In addition to all the records that the greats have left for all of us to digest, I was fortunate enough to spend time studying music under the guidance of several masters of the art including Rucci Aamodt, Andrew Carpenter, Dr. Jay Wilkinson, Marlene Rosenburg, Dr. David Flippo, Joe Ott, and Dr. Michael Flack.
Happy music-ing!
Musical Styles
My musical style is a fusion of rock and jazz, with hints of classical music and japanese pop. Musical journeys include jazz ensemble work with various school big bands, a Chicago-style funkrock band, a jamband tribute band, and a 70s rock/motown hits cover band. Queen, Pat Metheny, Michael Brecker, Utada Hikaru, Yano Akiko, and Jacob Collier are some of the musical masterminds that have shaped my musical style, to name a few.
